Thou shalt not fear

Society/LGBTQIA+, Germany 2019

Hans-Gerd Spörkel was the father of seven children and had served as a pastor in a rural environment all his working life when rumours spread in his village that he likes to wear women's clothes. He was forced to take a break from his pastoral work; his wife at the time divorced him, and he was uncertain whether the village which had served for over 25 years would be supportive of him. Six months later, the human being formerly know as Hans-Gerd resolutely returns as Elke Spörkel and holds her first service as a pastor. After controversial discussions, the congregation accepts their transgender pastor back and tries to return to normality, but when Elke meets her new wife Kirstin and the two begin to plan their wedding, the mood changes again. Influential forces within the village begin to work determinedly to get rid of their colorful pastor for good.
