The last catastrophe was five years ago - back then Marion (JULIE DELPY) and her American boyfriend fell in with her parents in Paris. The two have long since moved on from their shared phase of life. Photographer Marion now lives in the Big Apple with her son and falls in love with Mingus (CHRIS ROCK), the single father of a seven-year-old daughter. Is he the man for her life? In principle, yes, but the acid test is not long in coming: this time Marion's oddball father (ALBERT DELPY) turns up in New York - with her neurotic sister Rose (ALEXIA LANDEAU) and her unbearably pushy ex-boyfriend Manu (ALEX NAHON) in tow. The culture shock between arrogant Frenchmen and pragmatic Yanks not only gets tangled up in linguistic pitfalls, but escalates into bizarre foibles and provocations that cause even the seemingly firm foundation in Mingus' and Marion's relationship to crumble.
