After the success of George Moorse's short film In-Side-Out, it was obvious for the LCB to also entrust him with the first feature-length film production. Claudia von Alemann gave him the idea to adapt Kleist's novella Der Findling. She was also assistant director for the filming. Several students from the newly founded German Film and Television Academy, where pop culture wunderkind Moorse was hired as a directing instructor, also collaborated. Unlike his wildly colorful directorial debut, Der Findling is in cool black and white.
