On the border between Germany and Denmark lies the Great Ox Island. A tiny islet on Danish territory. For years, a troop of sailors and dropouts live here. But life on the island is not all sunshine and roses - in just a few days of high season, they have to earn money for the whole year. The dropout friends quarrel hopelessly and have to leave the island. Paradise is lost. But what comes next? In the port of Flensburg, the failed utopians spend their time as day laborers and have-nots on rusty ships and nurse their longing with a good shot of alcohol. The island remains a dark promise, a collective wound. Can they break the spell?
